KG Advisors (“KG Advisors”) is a fundraising and political consulting firm based in California. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, to the emails and other communications we send, and to information we handle in the course of our fundraising, development, advising and event work. When we collect or use information on behalf of a client, such as a campaign, committee or nonprofit organization, that client’s own privacy policy may also apply to how it handles your information.

 

Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you submit our contact form, email us, respond to an invitation, attend an event or otherwise correspond with us, we collect the information you provide. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, employer or organization, and the content of your message.

 

Information we collect in the course of our work. In providing services to our clients, we maintain information about donors, prospective donors, their advisors and staff, and other professional contacts. This may include:

We collect information from public records and other publicly available sources, including campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission and state agencies, nonprofit filings with the Internal Revenue Service, filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, news coverage and published biographies. How We Disclose Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only as follows:

  • Clients. We share information with the candidates, committees and organizations we work for, in connection with the services we provide to them.
  • Service providers. We use vendors that host our website, email, documents and contact database, and that support event management. They may access personal information only to perform services for us.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of KG Advisors, our clients or others.
  • Business transfers. If KG Advisors is involved in a merger, sale or reorganization, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With your consent. We may disclose information in other ways when you ask or agree.

Campaign Finance Information

Political contributions are a matter of public record. Federal and state law require campaigns and committees to report contributor names, addresses, occupations, employers and contribution amounts, and those reports are published by government agencies. We use this public information for research and recordkeeping consistent with applicable law. We do not use contributor names or addresses obtained from Federal Election Commission reports to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes.

Cookies and Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Our website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. Email communications. You may opt out of emails from us at any time by replying to the email and asking to be removed, or by using the unsubscribe link where one is provided. If we contacted you on behalf of a client, we will pass your request along to that client.

 

California residents. California law gives residents certain rights regarding their personal information, including the rights described above. California Civil Code Section 1798.83 also permits residents to ask whether a business has disclosed their personal information to third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

 

Residents of other states. Depending on where you live, you may have similar rights under your state’s law. We will honor requests as required by the law that applies to you.

Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including to serve our clients, maintain business records and meet legal obligations. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including limiting access to our team members and service providers who need it for their work. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Our website and emails may link to websites operated by others, including clients, contribution processing platforms and event platforms. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Visitors Outside the United States

KG Advisors is based in the United States, and our services are directed to people in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on our website and change the “Last updated” date above. If a change materially affects how we use personal information we have already collected, we will provide additional notice, such as a notice on our website or by email.
